Messy Play and Mark Making!
Little Learners educational classes are coming to Northampton! My name is Laura and I’m very excited to bring fun, creative, educational messy play events and classes to families across Northamptonshire.
After teaching for 15+ years, I’ve made a career change! I was looking for something that means I can be around for my two little boys as much as possible but also something that enables me to use my teaching skills and experience. I live in Northampton and have taken both of my boys to local messy play classes but now I can’t wait to plan some interactive, sensory fun for your little ones which will nurture and encourage their early writing skills.
We’re half way through our first term at Little Learners West Northamptonshire and Kettering. You can join us at Norton Village Hall, Daventry on Wednesday mornings from 10:30-11:15am or at Pytchley Village Hall, Kettering on Fridays from 11am until 11:45am. You can still book on for the rest of term or casual spaces are just £9 each. Every class focuses on meeting a different ‘Mark Maker’ character through movement, dance, song and of course… messy play!
Booking is also now live for our second half term. This will be a six week term starting on Wednesday 6th November. We’ll continue to be at Norton Village Hall, Daventry on Wednesday mornings from 10:30-11:15am. We’ll also still be at Pytchley Village Hall, Kettering on Fridays but class time will be slightly earlier from 10:30am-11:15am. You can book a six week term for £48 which is just £8 a class! You can also book casual sessions for £9 each. Sibling discounts are available. We hope you can join us for some mark making magic!
We have a seriously spooky special event lined up for the half term break. This special event is suitable for children from 5 months up to 6 years – my son Matthew will be tagging along to join in the mark making fun! We’ll have some witches potions, sticky pumpkin goo and much more! I hope you can join us at our messy play special in Norton, Daventry.
Birthday Parties!
Did you know we offer messy play birthday party packages too? Prices start from £80 and we have two different options available! I can either set up, stay and tidy up for you or you can have the party set up and then I’ll come back and collect the equipment later! Why do we do messy play?
Messy play isn’t just about having fun (although that’s a big part of it!). It’s also a crucial aspect of children’s development.

What do Classes involve?
Classes run for 45 minutes on Fridays during the school term at 9:30am and 11:00am and follow a set structure to encourage routine and some predictability for the children, this includes:
- Welcome and introduction to the weekly theme
- Unstructured play across the stations including;
- Wet messy play (e.g water, slime, chia seed, tapioca pearls etc)
- Dry messy play (e.g cereals, grains, pasta etc)
- Playdough
- Painting/Art Exploration
- Fine Motor Skills
- Colouring In
- Gross Motor Play (using the playground equipment outside)
- Pack Up and Goodbye
What are the weekly themes and term dates?
Term 3 will run from Friday 26 July to Friday 27 September 2024 at 9:30am and 11:30am.

What is the cost of a messy play class?
Classes are bookable by the Term for $240 with a 40% sibling discount or $27 for a casual class.
