About me

Have you been looking for Messy Play Classes in Longfield & Sevenoaks? Look no further!

Hi I’m Helen and I am a graduate in Early Childhood Studies and have many years of experience working with pre-schoolers.

I’d love for you to join me and my one-year-old son for Messy Play Classes in Longfield & Sevenoaks.

I think play is the very best way for very young children to learn important skills they will need as they grow up and go to school. Play is great for building brain pathways for thinking, creativity, empathy and many other lifelong skills. Messy play gives children an opportunity to explore new materials fostering their imagination and curiosity.

Baby and toddler groups are vital to providing young children and their parents the chance to build skills together and have fun along the way. Having my own three children prior to, during and now post COVID, has really made me recognise and appreciate the important role groups and classes can play in supporting development. I missed them so much during the first few months of my daughters’ life and I hadn’t appreciated how many groups I took my eldest, who is now five, to and how much he got out of it!

I’m really excited to bring Little Learners to the area and help your little ones to grow and learn in a safe, relaxed and most importantly fun environment. Because what is life without a little mess?

Did you know we offer Little Learners Party packages?

These extra special parties are tailored entirely to match your party theme, whether your little one is celebrating with a Bluey, Paw Patrol, Frozen, Thomas or even a dinosaur party! You name it We can do it!

These amazing party packages combine all the fun and excitement of our award-winning mark making and messy play classes, with a personalised birthday theme for your little one.

The party room will be set up with themed messy trays, sensory play, painting, crafts and more. Our party packages start from £200 and can be set up at the venue of your choice. We bring everything required, deliver the session and clear up all the mess afterwards.

“Helen is extremely enthusiastic and puts a lot of effort into each tray for the week. My daughter loves messy play on a Friday in West Kingsdown, the hall is nice and large, there is ample parking on site and the time is perfect for the school run in the morning. Even my older daughter (7yo) enjoys coming to the special sessions!

Update: we coming to our last term with Helen at Little learners as my daughter starts school in September. Helen has provided a creative space for myself and my daughter to bond and it means you dont have to do messy play at home! Unless you buy the slime, which we do all the time!”

“All 3 of my children have loved Little Learners. It’s a relatively simple set up, so it’s not too overwhelming for a young baby, but the activities are very open so older children are still engaged for the whole session. Babies and toddlers get an amazingly varied sensory experience – different colours, shapes, smells and tastes to explore, while older toddlers can learn about letter formation and more controlled mark making. My eldest still enjoyed going during the school holidays once she was in reception, and enjoyed the different themes (which I have to admit my youngers ones were pretty oblivious to).

Do bring a change of clothes and a LOT of wipes!”

Why do we do messy play?

Messy play isn’t just about having fun (although that’s a big part of it!). It’s also a crucial aspect of children’s development.

Here’s why:

What do Classes involve?

Classes run for 45 minutes on Fridays during the school term at 9:30am and 11:00am and follow a set structure to encourage routine and some predictability for the children, this includes:

Welcome and introduction to the weekly theme
Unstructured play across the stations including;
- Wet messy play (e.g water, slime, chia seed, tapioca pearls etc)
- Dry messy play (e.g cereals, grains, pasta etc)
- Playdough
- Painting/Art Exploration
- Fine Motor Skills
- Colouring In
- Gross Motor Play (using the playground equipment outside)
