A very Little Learners Christmas!
With just days to go until the big day, everyone is in full festive swing. This month up and down the country (and in Australia!) we at Little Learners have been busy running Christmas themed classes. Here are a few of the activities the children at Little Learners Basingstoke took part in – let us know your favourite festive activities in the comments!
Christmas Snowman
Our snowman tray was made out of moondough, coloured rice and a carrot for his nose. The children mixed, scooped and moulded the moondough and rice. You could also use sand dough too! We made our own snowmen and talked about what he looked like and the objects he would need.
Calendar making at our Christmas themed class!
During our classes we made lots of calendars which make the perfect gift for Christmas. We used a ‘2-24’ template which gave the children space to either draw or paint a hand or footprint to represent the ‘0’. Here are a few masterpieces!
We then stuck the paintings onto card and attached a small 2024 calendar. A perfect keepsake and memory of your child’s tiny hand/ foot print.
Card Writing
I love watching the children develop their mark making skills and what better way than ‘writing’ cards. The children have a clear purpose for their writing and began to make marks representing letters. This little girl was writing ‘To Granny, Love Granny.’ which was such a cute moment. She understood the Christmas card was for Granny but hadn’t quite got the concept that it wouldn’t also be from Granny. I provided envelopes too which made the purpose even more real.
Christmas themed classes always get our Little Learners smiling! See you in 2024!
Thank you for reading and Merry Christmas.
