Calling all Wakefield Parents!
Joanna, our newest franchisee, recently brought educational messy play baby classes to Wakefield and we just could not pass up the opportunity to shout about it! Check out what Joanna has been up to…
‘Daddy Learn with Me!’ – Wakefield Dads
Our monthly classes especially for Dads and their little ones started in October and have been a great hit with our Wakefield Dads that have attended. Our October theme was construction and we had lots of fun with the diggers in the muddy gloop and scooped cornflakes from the flour hills making our soldier marks with Lionel. In November, we explored the sweetcorn and baked bean flames of the bonfire and made our magic marks with Swirlo in the neon sand.
I started running classes for Dads after seeing the positive impact attending a Dads class had on my husband. Prior to attending he wasn’t very confident taking our daughter out on his own and worried he wouldn’t be able to cope without me there. Attending a structured class with a teacher, he knew he had their support should he need it and he returned a new man full of confidence! He couldn’t wait to tell me all about the fun they had together!
Our Daddy Learn With Me! classes run on the 1st Saturday of each month at The Little Hub in Wakefield, and we are looking forward to our next one on Saturday 2nd December.
Events with Little Learners Wakefield
In October I ran our first event for Halloween which was so much fun! I love being creative and had lots of fun coming up with the ideas for my trays. We had jelly & eyeballs, crazy soap & spiders, a pumpkin made from sensory rice, a craft station to paint your own pumpkin or skull to take home and some huge pumpkins which the little ones enjoyed painting.
On Sunday 17th December we have two sessions for our Christmas themed event which are now available for booking. These sessions will be dry messy play, so for anyone who has not tried a messy play class with us and is unsure about getting too messy then these events will be a great introduction! We will have lots of Christmas themed activities available; dry messy trays, craft activities, play dough fun, painting (with less messy paint sticks!) and each child will receive a small gift.
Do you have an event you would like us to attend? Please email me to enquire.
Mark Making & Early Writing
One of the reasons I chose to take on my own franchise with Little Learners was the educational value our classes give the children. As a qualified teacher, I am always looking for the educational focus and why should I take my daughter to a specific class. I am always asking myself, what will she learn? Is it worth the money?
Mark making is the first steps in your child’s journey to writing. It allows them to develop their creativity and coordination by making different lines, patterns and shapes whilst exploring different textures. Through mark making, children can express their feelings, investigate a new concept, express their thoughts and ideas, tell a story, solve problems and develop their understanding of the world.
At Little Learners Wakefield we want our learners to get to school confident with the early writing skills our classes provide them so it isn’t daunting for them when given a pen to hold at school. Instead, they are confident learners and are just perfecting the skills they have already developed with us.
We make our mark making fun through our award winning Mark Making Programme. We follow one of our four Mark Maker characters each week who represent the four main marks that help to form all letters, numbers, shapes and patterns: a straight line, curve, circle and a zig-zag. You can meet The Mark Makers HERE!
Messy Play Classes in Wakefield
What are the benefits of messy play? Messy play provides a number of important benefits for children and I have seen first hand how much my own daughter has been benefiting from my classes. I always have to work hard to keep her away from my trays when setting up for my classes as she is super keen to get started!
Messy play provides the following important benefits:
- It Fosters Curiosity, Imagination and Exploration.
- It Encourages Communication and Language Development.
- It Practices Good Concentration and Nurtures Future Skills.
- It Promotes Physical Development.
- It Supports the Ability to Play Independently.
Parties!
Did you know Little Learners Wakefield offer birthday parties? I can tailor our trays to whatever theme you would like for your child’s birthday. Whether they are a fan of Bluey, Peppa Pig, Ms. Rachel, jungle/safari animals to Frozen the list is endless! I will work with you to cater to your requirements, I am also able to ensure no allergens are used if you have a child attending with a specific allergy.
I have 3 party package options available to choose from:
Option 1: I will come and set up 5 messy trays to your theme, then leave you to party & return at the end to clear up and collect the trays.
Option 2: I will set up 5 messy trays to your theme, plus a painting area, play dough area and craft activities. I will then leave you to party & return at the end to clear up and collect the trays.
Option 3: The same as option 2, however I will stay and run your party.
